High Temperature Neodymium Magnets
Explore high temperature neodymium magnets in SH, UH and EH grades. Custom sintered NdFeB blocks, rings and arcs for motors and industrial applications.
Products Description
High temperature neodymium magnets are sintered NdFeB permanent magnets designed for applications requiring high intrinsic coercivity and improved resistance to irreversible demagnetization at elevated temperatures.
As a manufacturer with our own production facilities, we produce high temperature NdFeB magnets in SH, UH and EH grades for electric motors, generators, automotive systems and other demanding industrial applications. These grades are commonly associated with maximum operating temperatures of 150°C, 180°C and 200°C, respectively, depending on the magnetic circuit and operating conditions.
Our manufacturing capabilities support custom magnet shapes, dimensions, magnetic grades, magnetization directions and protective coatings. We work with customer drawings and application requirements to develop suitable high temperature magnet solutions for both prototype and production projects.

High Temperature NdFeB Magnet Grades and Specifications
High temperature NdFeB magnets are classified according to their intrinsic coercivity (HcJ), which indicates resistance to irreversible demagnetization. SH, UH and EH grades provide progressively higher coercivity for applications exposed to elevated temperatures and opposing magnetic fields.
The following table summarizes the typical temperature ratings and minimum intrinsic coercivity values for these grade classes.
| Temperature Class | Typical Maximum Operating Temperature | Minimum Intrinsic Coercivity (HcJ) |
|---|---|---|
| SH | 150°C | ≥1592 kA/m |
| UH | 180°C | ≥1990 kA/m |
| EH | 200°C | ≥2388 kA/m |
Note: The maximum operating temperatures are reference values rather than guaranteed continuous operating limits. Actual temperature capability depends on magnet dimensions, the magnetic circuit, external demagnetizing fields and operating conditions.
The magnetic properties of high temperature neodymium magnets are determined by both the energy-product grade and the temperature class. Individual grades within the SH, UH and EH families have different remanence (Br), intrinsic coercivity (HcJ) and maximum energy product ((BH)max) values.
Higher intrinsic coercivity can be achieved through carefully controlled alloy composition and microstructure. Depending on the material grade and manufacturing process, heavy rare-earth alloying or grain boundary diffusion technology may be used to improve resistance to demagnetization.
The appropriate magnetic grade should be selected according to the required magnetic performance at the actual operating temperature, rather than the temperature rating alone.
Thermal Demagnetization Resistance of High Temperature NdFeB Magnets
In high-temperature applications, magnet performance is affected by more than the surrounding air temperature. Electric motors and generators may expose magnets to heat generated by nearby windings, internal losses and demagnetizing fields during operation.
As temperature increases, both remanence and intrinsic coercivity generally decrease. Part of the resulting reduction in magnetic flux is reversible and can recover when the magnet cools. However, if the operating point enters an unfavorable region of the demagnetization curve, irreversible magnetic loss may occur.
SH, UH and EH grade neodymium magnets are developed with higher intrinsic coercivity to reduce this risk. Their improved resistance to demagnetization makes them suitable for applications involving elevated temperatures, changing electrical loads and demanding magnetic circuits.
For motor and generator applications, magnetic grade selection should consider the continuous operating temperature, peak temperature, duty cycle, magnet geometry and expected demagnetizing field.
Temperature-dependent demagnetization curves provide useful information for evaluating magnetic performance under operating conditions. Reviewing these characteristics during the design stage helps engineers select an appropriate magnet grade and reduce the risk of irreversible demagnetization.

Manufacturing and Quality Control of High Temperature NdFeB Magnets
Our high temperature neodymium magnets are manufactured using sintered NdFeB production processes. With our own manufacturing facilities, we manage key manufacturing stages, including material preparation, powder processing, compacting, sintering, machining, surface treatment and magnetization.
For SH, UH and EH grades, alloy composition and microstructure control are essential to achieving the required intrinsic coercivity and magnetic performance.
Depending on the selected grade and magnet geometry, heavy rare-earth alloying or grain boundary diffusion technology may be used to improve resistance to demagnetization at elevated temperatures. Grain boundary diffusion can increase intrinsic coercivity while reducing heavy rare-earth consumption compared with certain conventional alloying approaches.
Quality control focuses on key magnetic and dimensional characteristics, including:
- Remanence (Br): The residual magnetic flux density of the magnet after magnetization.
- Intrinsic Coercivity (HcJ): Resistance to irreversible demagnetization under opposing magnetic fields.
- Maximum Energy Product ((BH)max): A measure of the magnetic energy density available from the material.
- Magnetic Moment: An important parameter for evaluating the magnetic output of finished components.
- Dimensional Accuracy: Verification of finished dimensions and tolerances against approved technical drawings.
- Surface Coating Quality: Inspection of protective coatings according to agreed product specifications.
For applications requiring detailed thermal performance verification, additional temperature-dependent magnetic testing can be specified during the engineering and production planning stages.
Common surface finishes include nickel-copper-nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni) plating and epoxy-based protective coatings. Coating selection depends on corrosion resistance requirements, operating temperature and assembly conditions. Coating temperature limits must also be considered when specifying high-temperature magnets.
